Wild Interest in the iPhone!

posted in: Uncategorized - No Comments

Don’t know how long this will last, but I certainly understand the fervor! :D There still seem to be things “red tape-ish” that could hold up distribution of the phone – including the FCC and AT&T/Cingular. So let’s keep hoping that our “ultimate convergence device” isn’t crippled by corporate people who tighten their ties too tight in the morning, shall we?

LeeAnn Prescott, on her Hitwise blog had this to say about the WILD INTEREST in this dainty little phone of Apple’s,

Since Steve Jobs’ announcement of the iPhone at Macworld two weeks ago, Internet users have been flocking online to find out more information. For the week ending 1/13/07, the share of searches for ‘iphone’ was greater than the weekly share of searches for ‘ipod’ at any time during 2006. The week ending 1/20/07 still showed a greater volume of searches for ‘iphone’ versus ‘ipod.’

Freakin’ amazing over the top beautiful.

This short demo by Phil Schiller with CBS News’ John Blackstone is a concise display of this phone’s supreme beauty and power. My Macbook Pro running OS X.4.8 makes me a feel satisfied at least once a day… I think this phone is gonna top at least 2 times a day satisfaction rate.

Ok… (catch your breath)… (palpitations slowing)… breath easy… That’s right … nice…

Can ya freakin’ BELIEVE it? I mean, I knew Apple was a design MACHINE (read my “Huh?” page – I wrote that BEFORE the release – I’m so good), but THIS! Apple completely and totally (except for going exclusively with AT&T/Cingular – maybe we can get it unlocked) BLEW AWAY my expectations with more and more beautiful design work and functionality than I could have dreamed. That’s my view, at least.

Here’s David Pogue’s view… he got to HANDLE it!!! Woo hoo!

tha phone, baby!

It’s HERE! :D

This is the real deal - the Mac iPhone is finally here.

“We have been very lucky to have brought a few revolutionary user interfaces to the market — the mouse, the click wheel, and now Multi-Touch. Each has made possible a revolutionary product, the Mac, the iPod, and now the iPhone. We’re going to build on top of that with software. Software on mobile phones is like baby-software. Today we’re going to show you a software breakthrough. Software that’s 5-years ahead of what’s on any other phone.”

“iPhone runs OS X!” Huge cheers. “Why would we want to run such a sophisticated OS on a mobile device? It’s got everything we need. Mulittasking, networking, power management, graphics, security, video, graphics, audio core animation…”

Welcome to MacDoesPhones. We hope to titillate the senses of the gagetry-impaired (those who never quite achieve “gadgetry-fulfillment”)

In a classic example of the kinds of up-and-down-and-up-and-down roller coaster of rumor-mongering, bloggingstocks.com informs us that now that we have all given up (for the 3rd time?) on hoping that MacWorld 2007 would present our first version of the previously-named iphone – which name was apparently usurped by LinkSys / Cisco before it was even a spark in Apple’s eyein blazing glory (bloggingstocks.com). Who knows WHAT they’re gonna call it… “uPhone”? “iPodSocial”? (haha! I thought of that!) “CoreCommunicator”? (mmm… kinda Star Trekkish! Me likey…) We shall see.

Meanwhile, here’s a comment on the bloggingstocks site I had to quote… (sigh) if only…

14. Yes, I will buy an iPhone, and maybe three more for my business partners. I am hoping for a combo of a satellite phone with a great (simple) interface, a Newton with not only handwriting recognition but also voice (no keyboard needed), a big screen for movies and ebooks, an iPod, GPS, touch screen, OSX Lite, radio reception, XM reception, fax, email, camera, and some huge 21st Century surprise that will revolutionize our lives. Well…it could happen, couldn’t it? Might cost a bit more than $400 I suppose. I’ll bet it will have at least three to five of the items above. I would pay $1000, maybe more if it all worked and didn’t weigh too much.
