Don’t know how long this will last, but I certainly understand the fervor! 
There still seem to be things “red tape-ish” that could hold up distribution of the phone – including the FCC and AT&T/Cingular. So let’s keep hoping that our “ultimate convergence device” isn’t crippled by corporate people who tighten their ties too tight in the morning, shall we?

For the week ending 1/13/07, the share of searches for ‘iphone’ was greater than the weekly share of searches for ‘ipod’ at any time during 2006. The week ending 1/20/07 still showed a greater volume of searches for ‘iphone’ versus ‘ipod.’
